The rattan flat cane core spline is widely used for weaving, rattan chair restoration, basket making, furniture repairs, and creative up-cycling projects. It is a versatile natural material suitable for both professional restorers and DIY use.
Popular Uses
Chair Repair & Furniture Restoration
Ideal for repairing rattan chairs, replacing damaged cane binding, restoring cane furniture frames, and covering staples or nails for a neat professional finish.
Weaving & Craft Projects
Suitable for weaving around timber, wire, or metal frames to create chair seats, chair backs, baskets, lampshades, and decorative pieces.
Edging & Trim Work
Commonly used as finishing trim to secure rattan webbing and tidy exposed furniture edges.
How to Use
For best flexibility, soak the flat cane in water (10- 15 minutes) before use. This makes the rattan easier to bend and weave. As it dries, the cane tightens naturally and may shrink slightly, helping create a firm secure finish.
